Adam McKinna leads Ty Proctor, Robert Ksiezak & Luke Priest in Heat 6
James Grieves
Robert Ksiezak
Kauko leads Grieves
Heat 11 - Gary Havelock rides through Robert Ksiezak's shale spray. Ty Proctor & Luke Priest follow on.
A brave performance after losing Ross Brady in heat 2. Seems Ross has aggravated his knee injury and God only knows how long he'll be out. Kauko and Robert Ksiezak came up with 25 between them and Big Lee rode like a demon for 8. Mitchell racked up 5. His excess of rides covering for Ross meant he got plenty of laps in, though I think he'd have tacked a few more points on had he not suffered machinery problems and had to use one of Lee Dicken's spare bikes for five of his seven rides. When out on his own machine, he looked a million miles from the wobbling bomb scare he's been for the last month or so. Lee's bike however was simply outwith Mitchell's command and it was plain to see that this wasn't a poor rider, just a lad needing to build his confidence and very much in need of a bike on which he feels at home.
Luke Priest battled gamely at No2. The bizarre nature of the interim averages and a lack of riders meant we had to use a conference rider at a position in which he would never be expected to pick up points. I'm sure the promotion will thank him for stepping in, but he was sadly only able to make up the numbers in the end.
Onwards, ever onwards.................Would love to thump Berwick, but it ain't gonna happen. I'm sure Adam McKinna is wondering what he did wrong, though it has to be said that while his opposition wasn't up to much today, he was riding with a degree of pace not evident when he rode for Berwick earlier in the season. 11+2 was far more than I would have predicted from him at the start of the meeting.
The home meeting next Sunday against Sheffield will be the same desperate rearguard action as today, except I think there will be a good deal more daylight between the teams than there was against Redcar.
