Glasgow Tigers 47 Belle Vue Aces 48
Weather- Windy and overcast, with sunny spells. One drizzly shower about two thirds distance. Colder than a witches teat.
Track - Smooth as Kojaks napper.
Crowd - Decent. 800 to a 1000 I reckon. I'm shite at estimating these things though.
Racing - Some good moves, especially from the Elite lads. All Belle Vue for the first 8 heats. Glasgow took advantage of the tacticals to pull things back.
Rider Ratings:
Kevin Doolan - Expected more than four thirds, but guest riders are sometimes hit & miss.
Shane - Had a mixed afternoon. Great early heat win, followed by a duck-egg, a strange tactical ride in which it seemed his bike was severely under-powered, and a great team ride with Ross Brady for a paid win.
Josh Grajczonek - Slow start, but two wins and a third saw him nominated for heat 15. Just wait till he gets a few meetings under his belt.
James Grieves - Made the most of the tactical ride. Even without it, he was still highest scoring Tiger. Looking forward to more of the same.
Peter Juul - Looking very good indeed. Looked on for a heat win in heat 8, but a great move from James Wright on the 2nd bend put paid to that. Looking forward to seeing what he can do in the rough & tumble of the PL.
Mitchell Davey - Only two points. Could have been three if he hadn't dropped it in heat 8. Only got two rides, but looks fast and hungry. Should do well at reserve this year.
Ross Brady - First two rides were woeful, but gated in his third and did what we all hope he'll do with some regularity through the season.
Anders Andersen - Like Mitchell, limited in his rides by the prescence of the extra man, ending up with two third places. He looked good towards the tail end of last season and there's no reason to believe he won't make increase his average.
Ok, Edinburgh next weekend, and the real stuff begins.
