The removal and re-awarding of our 5 r/r points from ten days ago to Redcar by those kind chaps at the SCB has taken more than a little of the joy out of the Tigers victory over the Brummies on Sunday. Ultimately the points are meaningless to us as regards league position, but the record books will show that on that particular Sunday, the efforts of the Tigers riders will go unrewarded as far as league points are concerned.

Lioness over at the Unofficial Glasgow Speedway site puts it far better than I ever could...........

Whilst I agree that Glasgow maybe shouldn't have named Conda if there was a possibility he wouldn't be there, the rather petulant and frankly illogical nature of the points switch leaves me a little nonplussed. Why not declare a whitewash? It would be just as sensible.

The whole thing leaves a nasty taste in the mouth and smacks of a group of rulemakers who seem more than happy to hit the easiest target. >:(

American touring rider Shaun Harmatuik. Took part in a couple of excellent 2nd half races in which he pushed Ashfield regular Gary Beaton all the way in two heats. He looks pretty quick and not a little stylish. Currently looking for a club in the UK, but handicapped badly by a 7 point assessed average.

Once again, despite the defeat, there were little things to give you hope. Or maybe I'm a hopeless optomist...................

Robert Ksiezak - His current form is astonishing. Considering all the nasty things I was muttering about the guy not six weeks ago...................I'm off to find a hat to eat. His gating is superb and he seems that bit faster than before. His average will be through the roof soon.

Josh Grajczonek - Naughty boy! ;) He wasn't due back until this coming Saturday at Workington, but it seems he's been climbing the walls a bit, and nobody was gonna tell him he couldn't ride. Got a bit shunted in heat 2, but got better as the meeting went on and Heat 14 was a real treat. Will be invaluable at reserve for the next few weeks.

Mitchell Davey - Won heat 2. Not earth shattering news, but it's a boost to his confidence. I suppose it's the least you can expect of a reserve, to win the tail end heat and pick up the odd other point. Just got to work on the 'odd other point bit, though he's nowhere near as far off the pace as he was.

Trent had a poor meeting by his standards and Lee was on for two points in heat 1 when his bike spat him off, after which he never really got going. Anders Andersen spent the meeting using Mitchell Davey's spare bike, picking up a solitary point. His machinery problems will hopefully be resolved for the next meeting. Carl Stonehewer did us another good turn, replacing the injured Shane Parker. Carl wasn't quite in the groove he was in the last time he rode for us, but he and every other guest for Shane over the past few months have pretty much done what was asked of them, and sometimes more. Theres little point in grumbling over a few dropped points.

I was going to have a wee rant about Sunday's rotten performance at Ashfield, but then tonight's amazing meeting at Birmingham only went and cheered me up. Good job too, I'd only have gone and said some things about some riders that I may have regretted later..........

A great warm-up for the visit of the Monarchs this Sunday. Looks like the new riding order could also have some effect, with Mitchell now riding at No7, he should be able to pick up some points and find his way. My only concern is for Lee, who may get outgunned a bit at No 4, though his machinery seems to be a good deal better than it was this time last year. He should be able to cope, but the days of 10+ points at home will be gone for a while..............
